Synopsis (via Goodreads):
Think you know paranormal romance? Alex Flinn gives the genre a twist in this modern fairy-tale mash-up!
Johnny’s not your average hero. But a little magic changes everything. There isn’t a fairy godmother or any of that. It all starts with a curse. And a frognapping. And one hot-looking princess. And before Johnny knows it, he is on a mission in the Everglades, with only a flock of swans and a talking fox named Joe to help guide him against the forces of an evil witch.
Cloaked, like any of Alex Flinn's fairy tale retellings, is amazing. They're shallow and odd, but great. This one is particularly shallow, but I think that part of the magic of them is how they are easy reads. They don't deal with heavy issues, they are just the fairy tale. In modern times.
One of the things that I loved about this book is how it kept to the fairy tale feel. It felt modernly magical.
Cloaked was definitely a feel-good read. It never really dealt with anything of real importance, it was just super entertaining. I shot right through it, reading it in a time period of only about two days.
I found all the characters to be extremely full of awesomeness. I loved Johnnie, even though he was slightly stupid at times. At least it was a realistic kind of stupid. He was so starstruck that he was a bit over the top at times, and it was hilarious and just fun to read. I love him!!!
